We are almost half way through the year… and what have we learned? Masks are bad for our skin, we want to highlight our eyes more than ever and stress has an impact on fine lines and wrinkles.
It stands to reason that people will increasingly seek out new ways to restore a healthy, youthful complexion. Even more than this though, non-surgical options have become the go-to for those looking for stellar results without going under the knife.
These are the top trends set to be big this coming year as people look to cosmetic treatments and facial rejuvenation to save them from lockdown blues bringing down their glow.
Angel PRP
This is the latest in cutting-edge facial rejuvenation. PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and is a component extracted from the patient’s own blood to create an injection for anti-ageing effects. Using the Angel system, it becomes much more potent and leads to dramatic and lasting youth-boosting.
Injectables will boom
It’s hardly surprising that more people than ever are seeking cosmetic treatments due to the fact we’ve been staring at our own faces through a screen all year. This has led to a boom in injectable therapy.
Many who have had the treatment for the first time are likely to continue into next year and we will see even more first-timers as the year progresses. Whilst creams containing retinol can smooth out fine lines over long-term use, it is only injectable treatment that is likely to help deeper lines.
Full face fillers
While many clinics still talk about treatments being priced per area, many are starting to move away from this way of thinking in order to treat the face as a whole. Often just injecting one specific area, such as lips or cheeks, can leave someone looking abnormal or have a knock-on effect in another area.
Doing a full face filler incorporates every part of the face to achieve a more natural look, in a new trend which will consider the broader surface area rather than honing in on specific areas.
Eyes in focus
We’ve all been wearing masks which means it has become even more important to accentuate the eyes. Expect a boost for treatments which reduce eye bags, such as blepharoplasty which delicately removes skin around the eye area.
Microneedling is another treatment that can bring new life to the skin around the eyes, creating tiny injuries to force the body’s immune response to produce more collagen. It has the bonus effect of reducing fine lines and wrinkles and acting as a cure-all for skin blemishes such as acne scarring and burns.
Tightening and firming
Treatments which address the sagging and drooping of the face will continue to be popular in 2021, in particular FaceTite which is a minimally invasive procedure that acts as a stunning substitution for the face lift. With downtime around a week or two, final results can take up to six months as skin tightens and collagen production improves, it treats facial asymmetry and reduces areas of excess fat by means of micro suction, while tightening the skin.
It does this by using radiofrequency to warm the fatty tissue in the neck and face, in order to destroy excess fat cells and force the surrounding skin to contract. A small cannula is inserted under the skin in order for the heat to be applied to particular fat cells in isolation, the fat is then removed gently by micro suction.
The next generation nose job
Increasingly sophisticated techniques come to the fore every now and then. In the case of nose jobs, one such development is Piezo technology which is changing the way surgeons approach procedures. This allows surgeons to perform nose jobs with great precision, using ultrasonic technology to help shape bone in a much less intrusive way compared to traditional methods.
The result is often less bruising and a much more accurate result for patients, which is sure to see it in high demand this coming year.
